Though Not as Cheap, it Still Pays to Creep
Congratulations to all those folks who contracted creep early at our special booking prices, because the cost has risen significantly as of late. We're in the market right now looking for the best prices on creep feed we can find. Don't Be Fooled by Abundant Forage I've been hearing a number of my customers talk about all the tall grass available for their cattle thanks to the moisture we've seen this spring and early summer. No doubt the abundance of forage is appreciated. But I would add a word of caution. In many cases, that tall grass is pretty washy, and may not contain the energy you might expect. The fact of the matter is, I'm hearing reports that some of the calves are looking a little thin. In extreme cases, you'll see some cases of ketosis. This occurs because cows are consuming large amounts of forage, but there isn't enough nutrition in it to provide for their growth and their milking calves. Fortunately, there's an easy solution. Supplement your forage with range tubs. They're a great source of quick energy and nutrition that will improve the condition of both cows and calves. Whether you're looking at Crystalyx® in the north or MLS tubs in the southern region, all of our locations are well stocked. Act now to give your cows and calves that needed nutritional boost. |
